Ushuaia

Ushuaia, known as the “End of the World”, is a popular holiday destination in Argentina. Lanín volcano

The Lanín volcano, on the Argentine-Chilean border, is a magnificent stratovolcano in the Andes. Located about 50 km north of San Martín de Los Andes, it is part of the Lanín National Park and is often called the most beautiful mountain in Argentina because of its resemblance to Mount Fuji.

Torres del Paine

Torres del Paine, one of the most famous National parks Chile, is located in the south of Patagonia. It is embedded in the Cordillera del Paine mountain range, which reaches a height of 3.000 meters. The park consists mainly of glaciers, but also of swamps, fjords and three granite mountains that have become symbols of the region.

Day 1 – Arrival in Buenos Aires

Arrival at the international airport of Buenos Aires and transfer to the Hotel Alvear Palace in the city center for a 2 night stay.

Day 2 – Buenos Aires

Start a 4-hour guided city tour through Buenos Aires, starting at the historic Plaza de Mayo. Explore the vibrant Avenida 9 de Julio and take a look at the famous obelisk. Take a break in the bohemian district of San Telmo before visiting the colorful houses of the port district of La Boca. Marvel at the modern district of Puerto Madero on the Rio de la Plata.

Day 3 – Buenos Aires – Bariloche – Villa La Angostura

Transfer to the domestic airport and flight to Bariloche. Take a Rental car and travel along the scenic northern shore of Lake Nahuel Huapí to the picturesque village of Villa La Angostura. Overnight at Hotel Las Balsas Suites.

Driving distance: 85 km of asphalt.

Day 4 – Villa La Angostura – 7 Lakes Route – San Martín de Los Andes

Embark on a journey along the famous 7 Lakes Route from Villa La Angostura to San Martín de Los Andes. Cross the National parks Nahuel Huapí and Lanín and enjoy the stunning lakes and forests along the way. You will spend 2 nights at the Rio Hermoso River Lodge in San Martín de Los Andes.

Driving distance: 120 km of asphalt.

Day 5 – NP Vulkan Lanin

Head north to the impressive Lanin volcano, passing through ancient araucaria forests. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the volcano and its surroundings. Overnight at the Rio Hermoso River Lodge.

Driving distance: 200 km in total on asphalt.

Day 6 – San Martín de los Andes – Bariloche

Drive through the beautiful valleys of Collón Curá and Encantado, admiring the unique rock formations, to Bariloche. Follow the southern shore of Lake Nahuel Huapí to the legendary Llao Llao Hotel, where you will spend 3 nights at the Golf & Spa Resort.

Driving distance: 295 km of asphalt.

Day 7 – Bariloche

Take a drive around the Circuito Chico and enjoy panoramic views of the Andes and the region's lakes. Explore the arrayan and southern beech forests and consider taking a chairlift ride up Cerro Campanario. Short hikes in the nature reserve surrounding the Llao Llao Hotel are also possible. For the best views of the entire lake region, hike to the Cerro López Refuge.

Day 8 – Bariloche

After a short drive to Bahía Lopez, take a boat ride on the lake and explore the less traveled branch of Tristeza. Enjoy lunch on board and take a walk through the dense jungle of the Selva Valdiviana. Admire the majestic Monte Tronador, an extinct volcano covered by glaciers. Return to the hotel in the afternoon.

Day 9 – Bariloche – Calafate – El Chaltén

Return your rental car at the airport and fly to Calafate. 3-hour transfer along the legendary Ruta 40, through the vastness of the Patagonian steppe and along Lake Viedma to El Chaltén. Stay 3 nights at the Hotel Destino Sur.

Driving distance: 200 km on asphalt.

Day 10 – El Chaltén / Fitz Roy

Embark on a hike to Laguna de los Tres, at the foot of the famous Cerro Fitz Roy. Enjoy the stunning forest and mountain scenery on your hike to the Rio Blanco base camp. Experience the breathtaking views of Cerro Fitz Roy from Laguna de los Tres. The hike takes about 7-8 hours with an elevation gain of 800 meters.

Day 11 – El Chaltén / Lago del Desierto

Take a guided excursion through the beautiful valley of the Río de las Vueltas to Lago del Desierto. Hike up to the Huemul Glacier and enjoy panoramic views of the lake and the surrounding glacier-covered mountains. Enjoy a boat ride to the north shore of the lake, past the hanging glaciers of the Southern Ice Field of Patagonia.

Day 12 – El Chaltén – El Calafate

Embark on a hike to Laguna Torre, at the foot of the legendary Cerro Torre. Admire the steep granite walls and the windswept granite needles. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the glaciers. The hike takes about 6 hours with an elevation gain of 400 meters. In the afternoon you return to El Calafate and spend 2 nights at the Eolo Lodge..

Day 13 – Perito Moreno Glacier

Take a day trip to the world-famous Perito Moreno Glacier, located 90 km from Calafate. Experience the breathtaking ice falls and the immense height of the glacier. Explore the surrounding Lenga and Coihue forests and observe the local flora and fauna.

Day 14 – El Calafate – Puerto Natales

Transfer to Puerto Natales, a 5-hour drive away. You will stay for 2 nights at The Singular, a hotel that aims to meet the highest standards in a stunning and privileged setting on the Ultima Esperanza Fjord in Chilean Patagonia. The hotel is known for its personalized service and rich history.

Day 15 – Torres del Paine National Park

Take a guided day trip to the national park Torres del Paine, a UNESCO Environmental Reserve and one of the World Wonders. This park offers stunning mountain views, glaciers, colorful glacial lakes and diverse wildlife including guanacos, foxes and various bird species.

Take a tour of the park and visit Lago Pehoé and Salto Grande for the best views of the Cuernos, then take a one-hour hike along Lake Grey with views of the Grey Glacier.

Day 16 – Puerto Natales – Punta Arenas – Cruise

Transfer from Puerto Natales to Punta Arenas through the Patagonian steppe. Check-in at the Comapa office in Punta Arenas and embarkation on the cruise ship at 18:00 p.m. Enjoy a welcome cocktail and set sail towards the southernmost point on earth, passing the legendary Strait of Magellan and the Beagle Channel!

Day 17 – Ainsworth Bay – Tucker Islands

You will sail through Almirantazgo Sound to Ainsworth Bay, where you can see the return of life after the ice sheet melted. Take a hike to explore a beaver dam and the sub-Antarctic Magellan Forest. Look for a colony of South American elephant seals on the beach or island. In the afternoon, you will head to the Tucker Islands to observe elephant seal colonies from inflatable boats.

Day 18 – Pia Glacier – Glacier Avenue

You will cross the north-eastern arm of the Beagle Channel and reach Pia Bay. Disembark to see the stunning Pia Glacier. There is an observation point where you can enjoy an excellent view of the glacier.

Day 19 – Cape Horn – Wulaia Bay

We cruise through the Murray Channel and then disembark at Wulaia Bay. This historic site was once home to a large settlement of the Yamana Indians who skilfully navigated the coasts in their canoes. In 1833, Charles Darwin himself set foot on this land during his round-the-world voyage aboard the MS Beagle. Prepare yourself for a breathtaking natural spectacle as we explore the stunning vegetation and geography of the area. Our walk takes us through the enchanting Magellan Jungle, adorned with lenga, coihue and canelo trees, as well as a variety of ferns and other plant species. We reach a lookout point from which we have a magnificent view of the surrounding area. Weather permitting, we continue our journey in the afternoon and sail south through Nassau Bay to Cabo de Hornos National Park. Here we have the opportunity to disembark and experience the mystical Cape Horn. This almost vertical, 425-meter-high cliff has been an important sea route for sailing ships traveling from the Atlantic to the Pacific since its discovery in 1616. Cape Horn is known as the "End of the World" and was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in June 2005.

Day 20 – Ushuaia – Buenos Aires

After arriving in Ushuaia, the most important Argentine city in fire land and the southernmost city in the world, we disembark at 08:30 am. From there we offer you a transfer to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires. Once in Buenos Aires, we arrange a transfer to the elegant Hotel Alvear Palace, where you will spend one night to conclude your trip. In the evening you will have the opportunity to experience a fascinating tango show at the famous Esquina Carlos Gardel. This historic winery in the Abasto district was once visited by the legendary musician and singer Carlos Gardel, who is considered the godfather of tango. Immerse yourself in the enchanting ambience of the 1930s as you experience a two-hour performance in the beautifully preserved antique interior of the theater. As the chandeliers dim, you will be transported back in time, learn about the history of Argentine tango and be mesmerized by the live orchestra, talented singers and dancers on stage. Treat yourself to a delicious three-course meal of international cuisine.

Transfer to Buenos Aires international airport for your departure flight. End of the 3-week Patagonia tour.

The many cultural and scenic highlights of the day trips are particularly memorable. In Buenos Aires we enjoyed a fascinating city tour and in Patagonia, trips to the glaciers of Perito Moreno and the mountains of El Chaltén with their impressive hikes rounded off our stay. Other highlights were the boat tours in the Beagle Channel and the exciting trip to the remote Tierra del Fuego.
